Caritas is the social ministry of the Church, embodied in concrete actions.
Being there for people in need, helping in crisis, supporting and nurturing human dignity. Caritas Ukraine implements this social mission of the Church through daily actions.
On July 5, Caritas Ukraine President Tetiana Stavnychy reported on the network’s activities in 2024 to the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC. The presentation of the report at the Synod confirmed the important role of Caritas as an instrument of living service. After all, we are there where there is pain, where there is vulnerability, where it is necessary not only to react but also to give hope. We, like the Church, see the whole person and the person first and foremost.
Last year, Caritas Ukraine celebrated 30 years of activity, becoming one of the largest charitable foundations in the country, uniting local organizations in all eparchies.
Caritas is about all of us together. After all, every eparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is involved in the ministry. We combine efforts to fully respond to challenges – from emergency aid to finding long-term solutions. And only together can we fully support the dignity of every person.

Ms. Tetiana also named three principles on which Caritas builds its future:
- Innovation – new services and solutions that respond to complex realities;
- People-centricity – seeing the whole person in all their vulnerability and strength;
- Networking – cooperation between eparchies, with the state, communities, and donors.
